The Hotel Nacional de Cuba receives a cultural distinction


Havana.- The Hotel Nacional de Cuba received the Distinction for National Culture as recognition for its contributions to the promotion of the different cultural manifestations.

Its general manager, Antonio Martínez, was handed over the award by Minister of Culture Rafael Bernal, who highlighted the tourist installation’s work in the conservation of the country’s heritage.
The award also was received by distinguished personalities of the Cuban artistic sphere who have also made their nation’s traditions transcend to other parts of the world: Omara Portuondo (singer), Rosita Fornés (actress), Alicia Alonso (dancer), Eusebio Leal (intelectual) and Esther Borja (singer).
Since its inauguration 83 years ago, the flagship hotel of the Caribbean nation has been hosting events covering different cultural manifestations, like the New Latin American Film Festival, one of the most well-known in the world, in addition to press conferences on important events for the country’s life, among others.
It has also been visited by famous personalities from all parts of the world and spheres, who have always demonstrated their satisfaction with their stay, proof of which can be seen in the autographed pictures that decorate the halls of the installation.
